Tritrichomonas foetus test negative
The test results came back for Tritrichomonas foetus for Bean today and they were negative. That means he almost certainly has Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I think the next step the vet will recommend is a biopsy (either endoscopic or exploratory surgery where they cut out a section of the intestines).
Neither option sounds good to me.
At this point, I’m continuing with the raw, boneless pork. Today is the 5th day that Bean and Roo have been on raw. Yesterday morning I found a little present on the carpet that was a little bit of liquid and a tiny, solid piece of poo.
If this was Bean (which I strongly suspect, because he’s usually the culprit when there’s poo on the carpet), then this is actually encouraging as it’s the most solid bowel movement he’s produced in a long time.
Shortly after I cleaned it up and was on my way out the door to work, Roo went to the bathroom and had a little diarrhea mixed with a small, solid poop. Since then, neither of them have gone #2.
There are a lot of different ways you could interpret my findings. It’s always more challenging to diagnose cat problems when you have multiple cats. I remain optimistic and am eagerly anticipating their next poops!
